Full Time | Shift Details are Sunday – Tuesday: 6 AM – 6 PM and Wednesday: 6 AM – 1:30 PM
The Lead Technician is responsible and accountable for all shop operations conducted during their scheduled shift. As a shift leader you will manage the workflow of all technicians assigned to your shift to include work assignment, follow-up and review of final repairs/work.
As a shift lead you are responsible for enforcing TLDs policies and will be held accountable for poor technician performance and unreported Job safety and policy violations of your subordinates. The shift lead will work to keep shop morale high and promote a clean, organized and safe working culture. Repair requests, both verbal and written, will be entered into Dossier at the start of each shift and throughout the day as required. The daily yard check will be reviewed by the Shift Lead, for PMs and repairs. The Shift Lead will report to their first line manager throughout the shift on asset status, technician attendance/behavior etc. At the end of each shift the lead will ensure the shop, and their workstations are clean and organized and the Repair Orders have been reviewed and closed.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Graduated from an accredited school studying Diesel Technology (Preferred)
- Must have a Class A CDL
- Must pass and maintain a DOT physical.
- Advanced Mechanical Skills and Knowledge 5 Years of experience performing diagnostics and repair on class 8 trucks and trailers.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook; internet (Preferred)
- Good organizational, verbal and written skills.
- Ability to focus and multi-task; Detail oriented
essential functions
- Manage shop workflow for assigned shift(S) to include assigning work, establishing an expectation for repair time and quality, checking technician progress throughout work assigned and review final repairs/work.
- Add all repair requests to Dossier, verbal and written, as a Work Pending Performing all regular duties of a Maintenance Technician
- Instruct/guide/assist subordinate technicians with work as requested
- Promote safe, productive and clean work culture.
- Communicate repairs with operations and drivers.
- Work with operations and maintenance supervisors do identify priority work.
- Enforce and report violations of TLDs Policies.
- Report shop issues, workflow and equipment status to first line manager at the start of and throughout each shift.
- Responsible for the inspection, maintenance and removal from service of shop tools and equipment daily
- Review and revise all Repair Orders at the end of each shift.
- Ensure proper coding, extensive notes and proper parts listed. Then communicate changes made with subordinates.
- Perform Quarterly/Semi-annual review of subordinate technicians.
- Order and manage parts in accordance with TLD Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Responsible for Monthly Physical Inventory Control, including counts and entries.
- Driver orientation and inspection of new truck assignment.
- Test drive and sign off on empty truck check lists.
- Perform 1 PM audit on each technician assigned to shift randomly each month.

Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for a shop environment.
- Employee will be subject to high levels of noise and smell associated with a warehouse/shop environment, as well required to climb stairs and ladders.
- Employee will be required to move/carry heavy objects as well as work in and under vehicles and in cramped situations.
- Working conditions cover a range of circumstances from air conditioned indoors to hot, cold and or windy Indoors/outdoors.
- Different types of PPE are required to be worn in accordance with TLDs policies.

- Wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
